Waiting Children in Bulgaria

Siblings Kate (12 years old) and Steven (10 years old) were born in February 2010 and November 2011, respectively. The two children are in good health and they live in a residential center for families in Eastern Europe. The two kids can be shy at first but open up more once they get to know you.

Kate and Steven have always been together, and therefore we are looking for a family ready and willing to accept both of them. They were extremely neglected in their birth family as younger children and this explains the educational gap between them and their classmates. A resource teacher works with them and this individual stimulation has had a very positive effect upon them.

Kate loves to study nature at school as well as Social Studies. She is in fifth grade and when she’s not doing homework, she likes to draw and play with her dolls. Her favorite is an Elsa doll she got last year for Christmas. This year, she hopes to get a handbag. Her favorite animal is cats, but she would also have a dog, as long as it is a small one. Kate has a good appetite and she likes to help in the kitchen. When she grows up, she wants to be a hairdresser or a social worker.

Steven loves math. He is in the fourth grade and says that he likes going to school because there are no difficult subjects. He likes to play “hide and seek”, soccer and dice games. He likes to cheer on the France football team as football is his favorite sport. Steven has a competitive spirit and likes to win. He says that he is not afraid of anything and his favorite animal is dogs. Steven dreams of becoming a football player when he grows up.

Kate and Steven need a family to provide them support and understanding, as well as clear boundaries to flourish and develop their potential.
