Chief External Relations Officer Donna Palmer, J.D., has a heart for purposeful work. She's also a visionary leader with broad strategic and tactical experience in nonprofit leadership and development.

At Upbring, she directs the planning and implementation of all external relations strategies, activities and initiatives. She serves as the leader for fundraising, marketing and communications, research, advocacy, disaster response and volunteer relations. 

With more than 25 years of experience building teams and programs to effectively increase funding, awareness and community involvement, her dedication to meaningful work is apparent in her record. Donna's years have been spent as a true warrior to break the cycle of child abuse as she fervently advocated for funds and policies to empower children, families and communities.

Prior to joining Upbring, she helped grow and guide a number of the nation's leading nonprofits, including the LIVESTRONG Foundation, American Diabetes Association, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Compassion International. During her distinguished career, she has overseen individual giving, business development, corporate sponsorship and partnerships, events, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, donor relations and stewardship.

Donna received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Marketing, and Public Relations at Drake University and a Juris Doctorate at Tulane Law School. She, her husband Robert and their daughters enjoy time spent together. She is a lover of nature, animals, history and travel.
