Senior Vice President of Strategic Process & Program Development, Murray Chanow, MBA, hopes that when people hear "Upbring", they think of the positive services it provides for children.
It's this eagle-eye vision he brings to his work as he oversees Upbring's strategic process, community relations and risk and quality assessment departments. A perennial large-scale thinker, Murray is also responsible for facilitating Upbring's thought leadership and program delivery through a system-wide approach of integrated programs in communities across Texas with the goal of ending multi-generational child abuse. Murray is very proud of Upbring's Ascend program, which brings a new, intense approach to breaking the generational cycle of violence by identifying five key markers of wellbeing — health, safety, vocation, education, and life skills.
Joining Upbring in 2013 as Statewide Recruitment Director, Murray brings more than 25 years of experience in strategic planning to his role. He also applies his 18 years of knowledge in political and government affairs in Washington, D.C. to his work.
Murray earned a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech University's Pamplin School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Bethany College. He and his wife, Linda, live in Austin with their two sons. When he's not at the office, Murray serves his community as varsity coach for the Griffin High School basketball team. He formerly served as vice-chair for the McCallum Lacrosse Association, and board member for the TownLake YMCA and Northwest Austin Youth Basketball Association.
