AUSTIN, TX, March 27, 2025 — Upbring expresses its gratitude to Texas State Representative Jared Patterson (Frisco) for sponsoring House Resolution 669, which was passed in the Texas House of Representatives on Wednesday, March 26. The resolution honors Upbring’s long-standing commitment to breaking the cycle of child abuse in Texas and recognizes the essential role of child wellbeing professionals as first responders.
With members of Upbring’s leadership and staff present in the House Gallery, Rep. Patterson acknowledged the organization’s impact and paid tribute to the dedicated professionals who make its work possible.
Rep. Patterson stated, “Upbring has been a source of hope and healing to countless youth over the course of its long history. And the state of Texas has benefited tremendously from this organization’s compassion.”
The resolution further acknowledged that “akin to that of first responders…” Upbring employees contribute “to their communities through their heroic efforts on behalf of the most vulnerable.”
Upbring President and CEO Mike Loo, a longtime advocate for child welfare reform in Texas, attended the ceremony and expressed his deep appreciation for the House’s recognition.
“At Upbring, we often refer to our staff as warriors,” said Loo. “They’re not always seen, but their work is nothing short of heroic. They step into the most difficult moments of a child’s life— with courage, compassion and a belief that every child deserves to be safe and loved.”
As a leader in child welfare, Loo has long championed greater recognition, respect and resources for child welfare professionals, individuals who work behind the scenes but have a profound impact on children’s lives.
“Our child welfare workforce is a lifeline,” he added. “They make life-altering decisions every day, often in high-stress, high-risk situations, and this resolution is a powerful reminder that Texas sees them, values them and stands with them.”
To further commemorate this occasion, Upbring released a video tribute celebrating the everyday heroes within its organization. The video offers a moving glimpse into the strength, resilience and servant leadership of Upbring staff and is available here.
As Rep. Patterson concluded in his address, “Upbring’s dedication to uplifting Texas’ children in unfortunate circumstances is a bright light during dark times. Their work is an inspiration to us all.”
