Murray Chanow wants to make “Upbring” a verb. His vision is for people to hear "Upbring" and immediately think of the positive wellbeing outcomes they can help achieve for the thousands served by the organization.

As Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Murray brings this visionary approach to overseeing Upbring’s brand, advocacy, marketing and communications efforts. He ensures that the brand’s identity is not only vibrant but strategically aligned with the organization's mission.

A perennial big-picture thinker, Murray’s collaborative style combines logic, critical thinking and creativity, allowing him to transform challenges into strategic opportunities. His solutions are grounded in data and informed by a deep qualitative understanding. Since joining Upbring in 2013 as Statewide Recruitment Director, Murray has drawn on his more than 30 years of experience in advocacy, branding and strategic planning. His distinguished career includes over three decades of advocacy at both the federal and state levels.

Murray holds a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech University's Pamplin School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bethany College. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Austin, Texas. Beyond his professional role, Murray embarked on a journey of self-improvement and well-being in 2020 and is dedicated to personal growth. This personal mission embodies his belief that true leadership begins with self-care, which enables him to better care for others.
